Surgeons’ impression of OPELAIII Cx

We asked surgeons who regularly use the original OPELAIII model for their impression of the new and improved OPELAIII Cx.

Dr. Kohei Abe

Director of Cardiovascular Surgery, St. Luke’s International Hospital

“I use deflection loupes, so I usually point the direction (angle) of the light almost straight down when using OPELAIII. With OPELAIII Cx, the range of spot size has been further expanded, and various other points such as reduced size, enhanced comfort, and extended battery life have been improved several notches. As for size, I would like you to continue to take on further challenges without being satisfied with the present. I heard that it is now gaining traction overseas as well. I hope that OPELAIII, which is made in Japan, will play an active role for the betterment of surgical performances in the world.”

Professor, Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Tokyo Medical and Dental University Hospital

"When I first saw and held the Cx model in my hand, I felt an unprecedented sense of luxury. It felt as if it’s about half the weight of the previous model. There were rare occasions when we forgot to charge the batteries and could not be used, but with the convenience of a charging stand and the ability to plug it directly into electric socket, those issues will be gone."

Dr. Tomohisa Shoko

Professor, Department of Emergency and Critical Care, Tokyo Women’s Medical University Adachi Medical Center

"It has become quite small! And even more comfortable to wear which is very good. I am extremely satisfied. It has reached a level comparable in size and weight to other conventional headlights. Another point that pleases me is that the battery has become smaller too and now fits in my pocket."

Dr. Iwao Sugitani

Professor, Department of Endocrine Surgery, Nippon Medical University Hospital

"With its compact size and lighter weight, it significantly reduces the burden on me and other doctors who use the OPELAIII. I am amazed at how light and small it has become while maintaining the brightness and excellent quality of illumination. I am definitely looking forward to the launch of OPELAIII Cx."

Senior Associate Professor, Department of Thoracic Surgery, Juntendo University Hospital

“In addition to the improvements in weight and size, in terms of functionality, now there is a battery level indicator, and the duration is even longer, which will help reduce anxiety during operation. I still use OPELAIII 20 hours a week, so I always thought that it would be a problem for me if it were discontinued, and I’m glad for the launch of Cx model. I want to be able to use it immediately because of the many improvements that far exceed my expectations. Looking forward to it.”
